HAVE YOU EVER TRIED TO USE PHOTOGRAPHY FOR VISUAL MEDITATION?
Many people think that meditation equates to sitting on a pillow, spine straight up, and humming "Om" for awhile. This isn't always the case. While the physical act of meditation is a fantastic spiritual uplift, visual meditation is even better. It completely takes your meditation practice to a new level. Visual meditation is also known as visualization, which most people think of as "day-dreaming." Who wouldn't want to use day-dreaming as a part of their meditation practice?
THUS, HAZY GREEN ROAD WAS BORN.
I created Hazy Green Road Photography as a way to help you gain the visualization that's missing from your practice. I'm a fine-art nature photographer who incorporates the colors associated with the seven main chakra centers of the body into my photographs. Because each color is associated with its own chakra, this will visually stimulate that corresponding chakra; and because the photographs are taken from our gorgeous green (+ the 6 other main colors!) earth, they will evoke a soothing peace that comes from nature itself.
HOW IT'S USED:
While you can use the photographs to stimulate each chakra that's correlated to the color of the given image, there's another way you can use the photographs to enhance your visual meditation. It's pretty simple, really. Remember when I said, "Who wouldn't want to use day-dreaming as a part of their meditation practice?" That's it; that's what you do. I recommend this for beginners of meditation. The chakras are still very much linked, but after all, it's visual meditation. What better way to meditate, as you normally would, but with your eyes open and looking at an image, instead of sitting with your eyes closed trying to conjure up images in your head? This is where the day-dreaming part comes in. Really, that's what day-dreaming is, is a form of meditation; we're just conjuring it by an actual item. The sense of sight is very powerful. Have you ever looked at van Gogh's art and felt an emotion, or gathered a message that was conveyed to you through his artwork? The same goes for photographs.
THIS IS WHERE PHOTOGRAPHY MEETS SPIRITUALITY.
This blog is a place for those who are really seeking that spiritual adventure through visual meditation. But it's also for those that are spiritualists. Hazy Green Road is also meant as a way to show you how spirituality runs my career, how it fulfills my soul on its journey, and how it can help you too.
HEY, I'M KELLY.
I'm a millennial stay-at-home mom that has an Associates of Science Degree in the Photography field. I'm also a spiritualist. I'm a Creator, and an Explorer, both of which are implemented into my career. While I do focus on fine-art nature photography, it's mainly floral images. I plan to one day expand to landscape and travel photography as well, with the same focus.
